Hand baggage allowances

Want to be sure if you can bring your bag or carry-on luggage with you onboard your KLM flight? Check the size and weight limits for your hand baggage.

Allowance for your route

Make sure to check the exact baggage allowance for your specific route, as it might differ from the regular allowance.

Economy Class allowance

In Economy Class, you’re always allowed to bring:

  • 1 item of hand baggage with a maximum size of 55 x 35 x 25 cm including handles and wheels;
  • 1 accessory (such as a small handbag or laptop bag) with a maximum size of 40 x 30 x 15 cm.

Your hand baggage can have a combined weight of up to 12 kg.

Business Class allowance

In Business Class, you’re always allowed to bring:

  • 2 items of hand baggage, each with a maximum size of 55 x 35 x 25 cm including handles and wheels;
  • 1 accessory (such as a small handbag or laptop bag) with a maximum size of 40 x 30 x 15 cm.

Your hand baggage can have a combined weight of up to 18 kg.

Hand baggage for babies

The number of bags you can bring on board your flight for your kids only differs if your children do not have their own seats. In case they are travelling on your lap, you can bring 1 item with a maximum size of 55 x 35 x 25 cm and a weight of up to 12 kg.

Limited space in overhead bins

Do you have a Light ticket? If we know in advance that there won't be enough space in the overhead bins, you will receive a message asking you to check in your hand baggage at the check-in desk. Of course, this is free of charge. We advise you to pack any travel essentials such as medicines in your smaller bag, just in case.

Haven't received a message to check in your hand baggage? If there’s still not enough space and your luggage does not fit underneath the seat in front of you, we might ask you to check it in at the gate. This is free of charge as well.
