À la Carte Meal conditions
1. Definitions
In these Terms and Conditions, the following terms and expressions shall be defined as follows:
"À la Carte Meal" or "Option": the option to select, against additional payment, a special meal to be served during the KLM Flight.
"Customer": any individual, holding an electronic ticket on a KLM Flight and wishing to purchase an À la Carte Meal.
"Economy Class": the area at the rear of the aircraft reserved for customers who have paid an Economy Class fare.
"KLM": Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij N.V., incorporated under the laws of the Netherlands, having its statutory seat and registered office in (1182 GP) Amstelveen, the Netherlands at the Amsterdamseweg 55, registered under number 33014286 in the trade register of the chamber of commerce and industry, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
"KLM Flight": a Long-Haul or Medium-Haul Flight, with a KL flight number, operated by KLM or KLC, that allows the purchase of an À la Carte Meal.
"Long-Haul Flight": a flight with a KL flight number between Europe and Asia, Oceania, Africa (except North Africa), the Americas, the Middle East, the Caribbean, or the Indian Ocean where an À la Carte Meal can be booked. "Medium-Haul Flight": a flight with a KL flight number to and from Europe, or between Europe and North Africa (Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia), Turkey, Armenia, or Georgia where an À la Carte Meal can be booked.
"Price": price including tax in euros* per person for the booking of an À la Carte Meal. Following the purchase, a confirmation email will be sent to the Customer. * Or the equivalent in local currency on the Website; rounded price and depending on the currency exchange rate, revised twice a year.
"Terms and Conditions": the present conditions defining the terms and conditions of sale of the À la Carte Meal.
2. Description
2.1. Against additional payment, KLM offers Customers the option to select in advance the meal of their choice to be served in Economy Class during the KLM Flight. This service is called: ‘À la Carte Meal’. This additional service is offered during online booking and at your trip overview on the Website. Ordering can be made for most Long-Haul Flights departing from Amsterdam and for selected Medium-Haul Flights. Ordering is possible up to 24 hours before departure on flights leaving from Amsterdam and up to 36 hours before departure for flights leaving from outstations. Per flight, a limited number of À la Carte Meals is available. Regular free meals are always available for Long-Haul Flights. On Medium-Haul Flights, a free snack is served.
2.2. The À la Carte Meals served during the KLM Flight may differ in size, taste and appearance from the visual and/or textual appearance depicted during ordering. The ingredients may be substituted by equivalent food components without prior notice.
2.3. Once the Customer has ordered an À la Carte Meal, it is not possible to change or cancel your order.
2.4. It is not possible to combine an À la Carte Meal with a dietary meal.
2.5. An ingredient list for each meal is provided with the utmost care. However, KLM is not responsible for any consequences resulting from food intolerances or allergies to any ingredient.
2.6. KLM’s General Conditions of Carriage are an integral part of these Terms and Conditions.
3. Requirements and qualifications
3.1. Any Customer booking an À la Carte Meal declares that they are able to enter into a contract, have read the Terms and Conditions herein, and accept them without reservation.
3.2. The Customer further represents that all information provided when requesting an À la Carte Meal is accurate, and that they will not make any speculative, false or fraudulent reservation. The Customer further states that they will make reservations only for themselves or for another person on whose behalf they are entitled to act, and who also complies with the requirements set out in paragraph 3.1.
4. Payment
4.1. The Customer can pay for the À la Carte Meal with one of the payment methods proposed on the Website at the time of purchase.
4.2. For Flying Blue members, payment for the À la Carte Meal can be made in Miles, if applicable.
4.3. The À la Carte Meal is personal and non-transferable.
5. Refund
5.1. KLM shall do everything in its power to honour the À la Carte Meal booking made in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. However, the Customer is hereby informed that KLM may be unable to serve the meal due to operational irregularities. In this case, KLM shall not be held liable and the Customer who was unable to make use of the À la Carte Meal booking made in accordance with the conditions set out in these Terms and Conditions, shall be refunded the cost in accordance with the Terms and Conditions defined in article 5.2 below.
5.2. The Customer who has booked an À la Carte Meal may obtain a refund of the cost in the following cases:
- Should the ordered À la Carte Meal not be available, the Customer will be served a regular meal on Long-Haul Flights and a snack on Medium-Haul Flights.
- If the flight is rescheduled or rebooked and the À la Carte Meal is not served on the rescheduled flight.
- The Customer has purchased a Flex fare and decides to cancel the entire trip.
- The Customer has a refundable ticket and cancels the À la Carte Meal 30 hours before departure.
5.3. The Customer may request a refund of the cost of the À la Carte Meal via the My Trip section on the Website.
5.4. In case the Customer chooses to purchase a paid upgrade to a higher class within 30 hours prior to departure, no refund is possible on earlier purchased À la Carte Meals on the same flight.
6. Force majeure
KLM shall not be held liable and shall not be deemed to have breached its obligations in the event of non-provision of all or part of its services defined in the Terms and Conditions herein if such failure is due to force majeure, as defined or interpreted by the applicable country law. In this case, the Customer shall not be entitled to claim any compensation, damages, or interest for any direct or indirect damage suffered as a result of the failure to provide the services.

9. Modification of these Terms and Conditions
KLM reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. The purchase of the Option shall be subject to the Terms and Conditions in force at the time of booking, unless a change to these Terms and Conditions is required by law or a governmental authority (in which case this change will also apply to all orders already placed).
